What a day! There’s nothing like a bit of sunshine to make everything pop—especially when you’ve got a couple as lovely as Laura and Rob, a scenic spot right near their home in Walsall, and the kind of weather that makes you feel like the universe has your back. The scene was set for a perfect engagement session, and, let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint.
Laura and Rob are one of those couples who just get each other. You know the type—they finish each other's sentences, share that secret smile, and have a natural ease that's a joy to capture on camera. We met up at a nearby coppice, a hidden gem they’ve got right on their doorstep. You could practically hear the trees whispering, "Go on, take your time, soak it all in," and that’s exactly what we did.
The coppice itself was like something out of a fairytale, with the dappled sunlight streaming through the trees, casting a soft, warm glow on everything. It was one of those glorious West Midlands days where the sky is a crisp blue, the air is fresh, and you can’t help but feel lucky to be out and about.
Now, Laura and Rob were understandably a bit nervous at first—because who wouldn’t be, right? Cameras can be a bit intimidating! But once we got chatting, the nerves melted away faster than an ice cream on a hot summer's day. We had a good natter about how I work, my documentary-style approach, and how there wouldn’t be any awkward posing or forced smiles. Just them, being their brilliant selves, while I snapped away, capturing those genuine, unposed moments. That’s my style: relaxed wedding photography that tells your story as it unfolds naturally.
There were plenty of laughs, a few cheeky grins, and more than a couple of those looks—the kind that make you go, “Yep, these two are absolutely made for each other.” By the end of the session, they were pros, feeling much more at ease in front of the camera and with me behind it. Job done!
Laura and Rob mentioned how relieved they were after the shoot. They said they felt like they understood how I work now, and that they’re actually looking forward to the big day even more. That’s music to my ears because the last thing anyone needs on their wedding day is more stress.
